BBK LongTube Headers on Automatic

Hey guys,

I know that the BBK Long Tube Headers aren't made for an automatic but I'm trying to make them fit right now. Has anyone done this before because I'm having trouble getting them in. The steering is in the way on the driver's side and the starter on the passenger side. We're thinking about jacking up the engine to give us some more space. Please help!! Thanks

well your not gonna be happy but we had to crush where they were hitting but it really doest hurt anything but before you do that see what more people say

Ok thanks. As of now I'm thinking of going with shorty headers and just welding extra piping to the x pipe to meet them bc its been such a pain so far

I'm having the most trouble by the bell housing where the starter goes.

i had to loosen the starter bolts in a friends car to get the header past it. i removed the bolts but not the starter itself, also we jacked the motor up on that side

Yea but then once you got it in you still had to modify the header right?

MAC makes them for auto cars......

How are those headers? At this point I need to go a different route. It's either BBK shorty headers or another brand like MAC. I'm definitely not paying the money for Bassani so its either BBK shortys or MAC, any suggestions?

If you had to crush/bend in the pipe, then it negatively affects the flow of the exhaust. less exhaust flow = bad

not a crazy crush a little tap to get it into place

if your trying to save money why not get a set of summit brand long tubes i had them before and they worked great and cost 100 bucks but had to get a mini starter but worked great for my previous budget. . .good luck

Ok so I ended up going with BBK Shorty Headers and X Pipe. I bought them brand new from SK Speed in Rockville Centre. I plan on putting them in today. The long tubes were just giving me too much trouble and I figured the long tubes wouldn't be much of an improvement since my car is mostly stock. So now I have a set of BBK long tube headers and off road x pipe if anyone is interested.
