Automatic mach 1 to standard conversion

Does anyone have any experience with swapping out an automatic trans to a standard in a mach 1. I am trying to sell my mach 1 because I don't care for the automatic transmission, however I am getting not hits. If it's not a huge ordeal I am thinking about just swapping transmissions. Any help would be great.

Post an ad on Craigslist and Mustang forums. Mention your looking for a manual Mach1 .Tell em your looking for possible trades.

I posted the car on craigslist and here on nymustangs and so far only one offer of 6500. To me its not worth selling the car for that considering what it books for. I know the economy is tough, but when you have no reason to sell a car it makes no sense to sell it under the low book value.

I'm an ass, I thought you were going manual to auto.........DUH! I'm thinking of going manual to auto. Maybe something we can discuss?

I'm def interested in possibly trading parts. I just want to do more research on how extensive of a swap it is. If it is a pain in the ass with a chance of problems it may not be worth it. Whats the reason you are looking to go to auto from standard?

I'm kicking around the idea of going turbo. It's a lot easier to spool a turbo off of a trans brake than free spooling a manual, and besides, I had rotator cuff surgery and I can't move my shifting arm right now.

I am currently swapping an auto to manual with my brothers 95 merc cougar. Its not as bad as you would think. you buy a transmission used or new hardest part would be trying to figure out the pedals. For my swap i have to use hydrolic clutch so have to put a master cylinder and figure out how to connect it to the clutch and fork. overall its not that difficult should be easier for you especially if you swap parts with the same mach 1. Work together on the project it'll probably fly buy.

the ca has a parking brake if thats what you mean by transbrake. if thats not what you meant then im sorry im not familiar with transbrake and as for drivability the 95 v8 comes stock with like maybe 190-205hp. i plan on bumping that up to atleast 250-280. it will be a daily driver for my brother fully ready to drive across the country. and of course the computers have to be reprogrammed or swapped out which i didnt mention before.

Where are you getting values like that? Every one I checked KBB, Black Book, are giving me 11,500 to 13,500 trade in value in poor condition.:confused:
I would never never take less than 14,000 for mine , Shit you cant even buy a car for 8,500, Cheapest car Ford makes is 12,000 base price.

A trans brake is a valve body modification that, upon activating, it engages reverse and low together, holding the car on the starting line. It allows the engine to be loaded so it starts to spool the turbo. It's a drag race thing.

Yea with the miles I have on my car, I think it was valued at like 12 on kbb for a private seller. However the miles do not reflect the car at all it drives like new, smells new, and other then a few minor blemishes in paint it looks new.

Unfortunately I turned the car over to my mom, due to the automatic transmission. I would of been more then happy to swap out with you. Sorry I can not help, but I will keep my eyes open. If you would please tell your son thank you for his service, it is appreciated more then most people show and best of luck with his healing process. I have a few buddies that just got back going through the same problems. Best wishes and good luck.
