Ok is the explorer intake harder to find b/c I always see the cobra intake around but rarely see the explorer

Check in junk yards and on ebay. Most of those new repro cobra intakes are Chinese garbage and fit like poo.

Or he can build a solid engine first then whe he goes to supercharge it it can handle more boost.
