If you want the absolute best power gain then go with a plastic RAI not CAI. This has been tested time and time and time again. Now if you want something that will give a power gain and be light on the wallet a K&N filter in the stock tubing with the rubber snorkel removed works quite well. Remember there is no magical 10-15hp from one of these things. You are looking at 5-8hp max and only 1-3hp over the K&N and stock tubing if you decide to go with a aftermarket setup. Unless you have forced induction then most of the time it only serves the "bling factor".

He's right, don't get a metal intake or a CAI...I have seen them in some cases decrease power due to heating the air. What I did for a while is what Chris said. I slapped a K&N filter in there, and removed the snorkel. Some hot air can still get in there though on a hot day however, so I ended up cutting the stock snorkel down a bit and throwing it back on.
I would recommend the C&L tru-flo pipe as far as plumbing goes. Between the pipe, K&N filter, and the removed or modified snorkel, you would probably net the most power while sucking in the coolest air.

ive got a K&N CAI kit out of a 2000 GT. kit still looks great. has about 10k miles on it. just clean the filter out and would be like new.. PM me if your interested

C&L all the way. I've done a couple of JLT installs as well, JLT seems really good, I thought about one for myself, but I liked the C&L because I could finish it how I wanted. I ended up putting about 30+ hours into smoothing it before I decided I wanted to paint it black. 3 coats of Dupont black and the 1560 clear and it looks a lot better than anything available in the aftermarket.
