anyone remove smog and a/c equipment?

want to definately remove my a/c stuff...wondering if i remove smog will it still pass nys inspection? i dont have cats as it is. also when you take out the a/c what do you do with the lines that go into the radiator do they just unbolt or?

I recently removed the smog pump from my 92. It was really easy. I bought the UPR smog elimator pulley and bracket. Looks nice and easy to install. If your cats r gone dont worry about the pump. They look at the cats before the smog pump. 96 and older they have to hook the car up to the computer so it is "who you know" can inspect the car for you! As for the AC unit all you have to do is remove the coller that is infront of the radiator. The lines going into your radiator are for your auto trans. I recomend keeping the AC for the hot ass NY weather! You can still make big power with the A/C!

isnt there another bracket that moves something so that u dont use a eliminator pulley?

I'd say keep the A/C but ditch the Smog!! No A/C= swamp ass on those hot days.

i dont use the a/c anyways..lol...im upstate...mountain air so its not as hot as downstate lol...im going to be using the ford racing a/c eliminator kit which moves the p/s pump to where the a/c was and i can completely remove/bypass the smog pump pulley thus using a shorter belt and no need for the additional "dummy" pulley...thanks for the help!

I got rid of my a/c and smog definately worth it in my eyes especially upstate . . .in the city it sucks I hav to use my details rags 2 wipe my sweat lol but who cares. . Good luck

I got rid of everything. No smog, No A/C, No P.S. Electric water pump. Moved the Alt to the drivers side. So now I just a belt that goes from the crank to alt. Super short

Just have somebody you know inspect it and youll be fine. No cats or smog shit on my car and it passes every year.

Ive still got the ac but it needs an r134a retrofit kit so right now it doesnt work.

okay so where the smog line hooks up to the exhaust...on my exhaust it has a little stub sticking out with a rubber hose that connects to the smog hard line...can i just disconnect that and leave it open until i take it to my mechanic next month and have him weld it shut...it wont be driven but 20 miles to the shop.

Just take a pair of pliers and crimp it shut. Youll have an exhaust leak if you dont.

I did that with my old X pipe. The new one is for long tube headers so it didnt have a smog tube.

I was trying to remove the smog pump and I used the above diagram so I went and bought an 84.5 inch belt but the belt is way too short. Can anyone help me with this?
