Airaid VS BBK Intake

Im ready to buy my intake. Im torn between Airaid and BBK. would you guys have a preference and why? Please post quick, i cant wait to order. Oh yeah, im going with a no tune. Gotta save up more. Thanks in advance

Save up your money and get a tuner/intake combo. Otherwise your just wasting money on something that isn't going to do anything for you.

I have an AirRaid on my F-250 Diesel and I love it, also have a BBK on my '94 GT and it's nice. The quality of the AirRaid seems to be much better though so that's what I would choose.

I understand what you are saying with the tuner combo. However, the airaid intake can be used with out a tuner, or with a tuner...simply by removing some part. A tuner will be next invesment but not until the winter. I would like to go the rest of the summer with at least an intake. so to sum it up, im not asking what i should get. I am getting just an intake. Im asking which one, the airaid OR the BBK

I had an Airaid on my '00 Expedition. Quality was very good and I would buy from them again.

I personally wouldnt run an intake on a S197 without a tune. With that being said Id save up a bit and put a JLT/tune on it.

You can't run the jlt without a tune. I have the BBK and I think it looks better than the Airraid. As for performance, I think they are about the same.

Get a tuner and tune for your next mod. You won't notice much difference until you get the tune.

Airaid if you want to make big power. I have one in right now and it is currently set at 85mm MAF but all you do is drop the ventri and you gat a 100mm MAF and it tested right next to the top 3 and made 1 less hp and 1 more TQ. The BBK was not even close. Call BBR they ran the test.

As stated already, dont bother getting the intake without the tune, you wont see much difference. Unlike the old 5.0 push rod motors, the 4.6 3v needs to be told about the increase in air volume in order to take advantage of it. Everything is computer controlled, if its not made aware of the changes your just throwing money into the wind. Save up that extra $375 or use your Credit card and pay it off slowly, trust us, its worth it.

I personally like the looks of the Ford Racing Bullitt intake. Airaid looks good too, as does the C&L Racer.

The real gains are not going to be show until you use a tuner. Due to the MAF transfer function being changed with the larger housing you are going to run lean without a tuner. The ones that come with the restrictor can be used without because it keeps the MAF transfer close but then you don't get the full gains.
