93 mustang question with kenne bell

Does anyone know if i put a kenne bell supercharger on with 6psi setup will i hurt the motor due to the fact it hass the hyperputic pistons and not the forged. I was talking to a fellow mustang buddy and have some concerns of hurting the motor? Is it true with my 93 that the pistons wont handle the kenne bell? Any help will greatly appreciated.:smash:

definitely not at only 6 psi either. i ran the stock 93 cobra motor with those pistons with 10 psi of boost from a vortech for ~40K miles making 420RWHP.

so if i buy the kit from kenne bell wouldnt it have the specifications on how to set the car up so i dont have issues with detonation. What else would i have to do besides the kit?

better have your tune dead on, hyper pistons + detonation = boom

any pistons + detonation = boom. hypers are not as weak as everyone thinks, they will handle plenty of boost and plenty of nitrous but you need to know how to tune the motor correctly. 6 lbs of boost on a 9:1 motor will put you around 12:1 give or take, i dont have a chart handy right now , youll need the correct fuel ratio, and timing and you will be safe.

Im a little discouraged at this point around the superchargers, if kenne bell sells the kit which is the 2.1 for cobra intake and run it between 6-8 psi like the kit recommends why do i need to go thru the extra expense of a expensive tune like everyone is talking about. I just want to make some more power on the street without breaking the bank. I thought the kits were intended to be bolt on and go am i wrong????:smash:

Well a tune will help you get the most power and not blow your engine up. I suppose you could just slap it on without a tune, but you might have some unknowns and could run the risk of doing some damage. I haven't done anything drastic to my car like a supercharger, but I always hear that you need a tune.

You picked the wrong supercharger if you don't want to be "breaking the bank".

I contacted him and its going to be a lot more money and more involved than what i thought. I guess i just didnt realize that when you buy the kit from kenne bell theres more than just bolting on and using the supplied fmu. Think im going to hold off as its just too much money to sink into the car. I appreciate everyones input on this matter.
