5.4L Triton swap?

Has it been done? Is there anything to be gained over just the normal 5.0?

Oh yeah, it's a 1999 2 valve motor, nothing special.

In a Mustang??? For the amount of money you would spend fabbing motor mounts, an intake, and a new hood you could build the motor you have and run 11's

I have seen guys swap the Lightning motors in, you could swap the 5.4 Triton in but don't think it would be worth it. You need a k-member, change to hydroboost from a 4.6 Mustang,and of course the exhaust I am not sure what fits. Then the wiring of course. I always wanted to do a 4.6 swap in a foxbody, maybe a 3V from a 05 up stang or a 4.6 4V from a Cobra/Mach 1 or even a Mark 8.

Here is the 4.6 DOHC swap in a foxbody...gives you a rough idea at least. I like the looks of these motors alot..

Yeah, all of that just seems like PITA, and then you have the wiring... Definitely not something I'd want to do, just get yourself a dart 302 block, turbo, and a h/c/i and shoot for the sky, lol.

Considering the endless list of possible modifications you can make to a small block 302 or 351 vs nearly nothing available for the 5.4 2v its not worth it.

Its a truck only motor and theres not much aftermarket for it other than cold air intakes and a few bolt ons.

Actually TFS makes heads, there are intakes, cams, etc. They are respond well, this guy on f150online has ported heads/cams/etc and is making 354rwhp thru an auto and running pretty quick!

"1999" F-150 XLT SPORT, BUILT 5.4, all N/A.
354RWH.P/392RWTQ (no tune, yet) on 8 cylinders/ 1/8= 8.4, 13.60E.T


The thin I do like about the 4.6 2V and the 5.4 2V is the blocks are stronger than a 5.0 is. The cost of a Dart or Boss block 302 is NOT cheap. But then thats where a 351 comes in I guess. All depends what you want..
