5.0 parts/build questions

I know nothing about nitrous. I do know that 90k on a set of rods and pistons isn't bad. As long as the engine wasn't abused, and you plan on normal driving. I'm a believer in building the engine stronger then you need. Spending more money now will save you time and money in the future. If you have the cash, and you plan on beating on the engine, put the pistons and rods in... Just my opinion.
I WISH I could afford it. My budget it minimal, so I figure inset of spending the money on mods I'll rebuild it so it will be reliable and those hyper pistons are under $200 which would be great in terms of budgeting... I'm not looking to make a drag car....who knows if I'll ever even bring it to the strip other then maybe a test and tune night just for a little legal fun. I just want a fun, loud Mustang.

The E7s are junk, I have "heard" when they are ported they are a little bit better and some guys say they have ran decent times with them, but personally I think they are a waste. I would grab some gt40 heads off an explorer in a junkyard and get them ported, they're better than the E7s stock, but I would get them milled down a little bit to bring the cr up some. I think the combustion chambers are like 70-74cc, I can't remember, I have a book that tells them but I'm doing homework right now. But you should get some stiffer springs for the gt40s because they are pretty soft. I would check around for the prices of porting to see if its worth porting either one of them though. It takes a lot longer to port iron heads than the aluminum heads. You might find that after getting them ported it might be better to wait a while and buy some aftermarket heads. You don't plan on driving it this winter right?

I know what you were saying. I just felt like being one of the jackasses on the other sites who bitch out other guys for wanting a cam just for the idle, lol. I would say a TFS1 cam or a comp cams 274 would do alright. I wouldn't go with a big cam, unless you had a really good set of heads but a smaller one should do pretty good.
Any one ever delt with using a Summit brand cam?

I know someone that made 260+ rwhp with unported E7 heads that just had GT size valves. They are not the best but will work.
The thing is, if you buy pistons, get the machine work done, all the gaskets, etc..etc. you are going to be OVER the cost of buying a good HO motor to begin with that has forged pistons/rods already.
Hm. I wonder what I could sell this for and buy yours.
You could stick a small cam in it and just toss some E7 heads on it if you are on a tight budget. You could run a mild cam with E7 and the stock pistons, but with GT40 or GT40P and the larger valves it will be tough.
