Bought a set of brand new ford 355 gears for my 8.8" rear on my 91 lx with AOD. Right now I'm running stock .just wondering if the 355's are good with my current setup. Everyday driver !! Anyone like these gears or can tell me if a noticeable difference will happen? Thanks again
a stock gear to a 3:55 sure i have them in the my car 5 speed ....but i would go with 3:73 in a auto if its a dd..... ether way you will feel a deferance..
I ran 3.55's in my old '88 GT AOD and that was truly a great gear IMHO!!! ...I later went to 3.73's when I changed the rear bearings, and that was a HUGE mistake!!!!
Car ran a 14.12 @ 99.6 with ONLY the 3.55's, H-pipe & Dynomax 2-1/4" CB!!!! ....Not bad for an AOD with 180k miles at the time!
in my 93lx notch i had a AOD with 355's and made 22mpg and 410rwhp and beat on it.....drove it everywhere. later changed to 373 to go faster, but the 355's were awesome, streetable, and very nice
Nothing wrong with the 3.55 gears. Auto come with 2.73 or 3.27. Look on the door for the axle code, 2.73 is M and 3.27 is E I believe. Most all my auto cars had 2.73 except my 93 GT.
Yea, I actually left them in the car. I ran 13.80@100 (pulleys/exhaust) then 12.77@111 sc'ed with them still in it. They were a great all around gear and top end was pretty awesome LOL.
I have 373's with my T5 and i love it. Im sure 355's will be great with your auto. Wont be screaming the rps on the highway and it will still rip outta the hole. You didnt make a bad choice.
