If you are going to build a 347 I would seriously consider Heads, cam and intake that will work with your build. There are many variables so 1st you need to tell us you goals and budget.

Im not really sure of a budget. but the car would not be a every day car. would like to run some were in the high to mid 11 second range. Im also interested in a fuel injected set up rather the carburated. nothing to ridiculous. Im not even going to say what i want my budget to be because every time i build a car, its usually double what i wanted to spend, and i know everyone can relate to this haha

My friend ran 11.5's with a home-built 306, home ported TFS heads, Victor Jr intake (carbed), 750 Holley, etc. all in a 88 GT with t-tops. 11.58@119 I think. So you can EASILY run this.

For intake, I like Holley Systemax or Performer RPM II. TFS heads are hard to beat for the $$$ no matter what anyone says. And like stated, custom cam will be great. 30lb injectors, 80-90mm MAF, 75mm TB, and a GOOD TUNE.

if all your looking for is mid/high 11's why not just build up a 302? no sense in wasting money on a 347 when you can easily reach your goal with a 302..

Call Comp for a cam recommendation. There is no need to pay extra for a custom grind.

I had a custom ground Comp in my old motor and was never happy with it. This time around I called Comp, gave them all the info they needed and they recommended one of their cams for my motor.

Ive built 302s before, never ran anything in the 11s. wana go a little bigger, and if its faster then my goal, Im not complaining, just a modest goal.
And i will look into comp cams.

If you go ford strokers you can order ci custom cam with shortblock. Mine has more in it with a tune, ported intake, electric fan and 60ft improvements. Im going down for tune with nym crew to mustang magic in may.

Woody stands behind his work too, and I would never go anywhere else for a custom cam than from Jay(CI). Both have been helpful during my build and Jay did the heads and camshaft. Getting a custom from Jay is not like getting a "custom cam" from Comp. X2on for Forstrokers and CI for heads and cam.

The cam I had before was from Ed Curtis. I just didnt think the car performed very well with it. All I could get out of a h/c/i 302 was a 13.7 @ 103. It seemed to fall on its face with that cam.

I can build you a 347 with custom cam from CI installed. Machine work would be done by ProFormance specialties in Rochester and I would do the assembly. Let me know if you are interested.

whats the weight of the car? we had a bs 302 with small valve edelbrock performer heads and an e cam running bottom 12's at around 2900 lbs, on motor. im sure with a better cam it would have been in the 11's

thanks for the offer, but i like doing the building my self, weres the fun in having someone else doing it for you. And im not sure what the weight of the car was. they were always basically stock except for the motors
