3.5/3.7L - COLD ENGINE STARTUP TICKING NOISE Built on or before 5-1-11 TSB 12-1-17

ISSUE:
Some 2011 Edge, MKX, Explorer and Mustang vehicles, equipped with a 3.5L or a 3.7L engine and built on or before 5/1/2011 may exhibit a cold startup ticking noise coming from the engine. The noise is present under the left hand (LH) valve cover and may last up to ten minutes.

You get yours fixed yet? Mine was built after that issue was fixed in the factory.

i just found the topic in a forum , i had noticed the tick and figured it to be normal , but now im worried i have an appt on monday to verify it at the dealer. its not a recall but they have a fix for it so.....if noone sees this forum or another one is the tick ok to live with? do i let em tear open my valve cover?

tick was confirmed and they performed the tsb on my car .. got a call direct from ford customer service and she said theyd call in a week to follow up
all in all.. im glad i found the thread on this and pleased with the service

Nice! If you have a manual transmission in yours I'd also highly advise you get the transmission fluid swap done. I had it done a week or two after I got my car and holy crap it made a world of difference! Shifts like a dream. There's a TSB on that one too.
