I've gone back and forth with 4.10's & 3.73's in my car
4.10's for best 1/4 mile time, dig races
3.73's for more street cruising, roll racing
with a power adder the 3.73's become even more favorable, but again minor bolt on gt with a supercharger, the car with 4.10's will win the 1/4 mile race
I am right at the edge of running out of gear with my setup & 4.10's, lots of power, 28" tall slick, 3650 5-speed
Personally I like the 3.73's better for a street car

Just my opinion though
4.10's in the city improve mpg, i got 1-2 more mpg in the city, you can select a higher gear to drop the rpms sooner really. like cruising at 30 i can shift into 4th instead of keeping it in 3rd, dropping the rpm lower in some cases.
4.10's on the highway will decrease mpg more, i dropped from 28 to 25.
still i run at 2.3kish rpm at 65 IIRC (i haven't driven the stang for a few months
) which isn't bad. If i did it again, i would buy 4.10's without thinking about it.
