2011/2012 issues holding anyone back??

My father and I went to the dealer the other day, and he wants me to trade my 2010 in on the 2012 Race Red cali special they have sitting on the lot. I REALLYYYYYYYY want a manual (test drove it and LOVED it), but the tranny issues have me worried. I have been reading and hear about more and more people running into issues with their manual. I went to another dealer last night and found a 2012 grabber blue cali special AUTO with the glass roof, hids, and comfort package. My MAIN question is, are the problem with the manual worth holding back on? I mean I dont want to buy a brand new car and have shifting issues, so maybe the auto is the way to go?.?.... I really wanted a manual cause I love being able to choose your own gear and choosing when YOU want to shift, but the issues have me a little worried.

Also I have read that people are blowing cyl #8, have gotten a bad engine tick after their first oil change, and some are also burning oil (some bad, some only minor). Has anyone on here run into these issues??

Manual has been fine for me. I have over 23,000 miles on it. They corrected a clutch pedal flaw early on. The stock trannies have been able to handle major power bumps fine. There are some failures out there, but most have been fine. It is the same tranny that went into the Boss, if that will help you feel more confident.

As for the #8, I haven't heard of that happening lately. I had one of the original Bama tunes, and have since had them rewrite the tune just in case. I have been running the race tune for around 21,000 miles, and my #8 is just fine. Most people believe it was the early tuners ignoring the knock sensor, and the #8 cylinder was the first to get blown. Bama now has a warranty on their tunes to protect you against this. I haven't heard of this problem on stock Mustangs. The only one person that claimed to have a stock Stang with the #8 failure was later proven to have an early tune from his prior user group messages.

These cars have held up pretty well seeing the abuse put on them overall. Good luck with your decision.

wait for mustang3 . this is a new car . your 2010 is sweet. 2010-2013 too similiar, the 2013 gets around 425hp. my 2010 has 10000 miles iam waiting for the next mustang. it is your decision. your car has nice mods

I agree with above - if it is an option, wait until April for the 2013 (order books open in either November or December). Front and rear redesigns, track app, standard HID's, possibly a little more power (nothing fully confirmed yet). I will end up trading my car in for a 2013 towards the end of the model year (I don't keep cars too long). And at some point, that will be traded in for the 2015 full redesign.
