Well, a quick history behind the car: (sorry I'm not a great story teller)
I bought it from my dealer in October of 2010 from the original owner with 74,... miles and didn't start the tear down till spring/summer 2012 with 76,502 miles. Bought the car with a slipping clutch and a rod knock and shortly after lost second and third gear.
During that time, I ordered a 5.0 stroker kit from MMR with .020" over pistons, and a 10:1CR and a few other little things and tore the motor down. I had Lou from LRB Performance do all the block machine work (line hone, cylinder bore, etc) and had him balance the full rotating assembly.
After that, I sent my heads out to Ron at Fox Lake Racing for a valve job. While my cylinder heads were there, there was a mix up and long story short, I ended up with fully stage three CNC cylinder heads. Ontop of that i added Crower springs and retainers and kept my stock cams and valves.
Drivetrain wise, having no second and third gear, I went with a Promotion built T3650 with the 26 spline input shaft. I chose a Mcleod twin disk clutch and a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel. I also have a set of Richmond 3.73 gears which will be installed at a later date once I save up enough money for the FTBR full bushing kit.
Onwards to the build:
Just want to throw this out there, just about every penny put into this car from buying it to building it was out of my pocket starting from the ages of 19 to 22. My main motivation for this was to say that I bought, built and assembled the car myself.
(hopefully i can get the pictures to work)
Started out with the bare block cleaned it and installed the crank with ARP Mainstuds. Put the rings on the pistons, pistons on the rods and the rods on the crank, also with ARP hardware. Installed the cylinder heads and torqued with ARP studs. Used an MMR oil pump and pickup tube. For now, I'm using the stock exhaust manifolds until i get enough money for Mac Long Tubes.
I also installed a UPR K-Member, control arms and coil overs with the C/C plates. Which brings me to where I am now, motor and transmission, is in the car and waiting for the final touches and start up next weekend. Some other little things that have been added is a JLT intake 03/04 cobra wheels (which maybe forsale along with the factory 01 cobra wheels) rear seat delete, Corbeau LG1 seats, Steeda Tri-Ax, firewall adjuster and a styling bar. I'm sure theres other things that I'm forgetting but thats the jist of things.
Tuning wise, I'm still very unsure of who I'm going to use to tune the car. I'm leaning towards John Lund but it's been brought to my attention that a place called Wicked Motorsports or so does a very good job tuning also. If you guys have any input or suggestions on tuning or anything else that I should do differently, please feel free to comment. I'm open to anything and everything.
