alright welll i have 1 351w and im trying to find a 5 speed or even 4 speed trans that will handle this engine and suggestions?

A used Muncie M-20 M-21 or M-22 can be picked up used for about $400. The M-21 is a close ratio version of the M-20 and the M-22 is a heavy duty close ratio

Hi,
You didn't say what kind of mods or intended use? If you are building it relatively stock for cruising I'd say you can go with a T5 (If you want a 5 speed) as well as a Toploader 4 speed.If you're building it up a bit more I'd still recommend a toploader 4 speed They're pretty tough.

i was gonna freshen the motor up new bearing and gaskets and probly cam and port and polish the heads so a bit more mild then stock

I'd say if you don't need overdrive you should go with a toploader. I've got toploaders in several cars plus I have friends who run them behind 427 sideoilers and 428 Cobra Jets they run the cars in vintage drag racing,they power shift them you name it,so I'd say go with one of those and you'd be all set.

I hear you,I shop ebay daily.What I am seeing in terms of toploaders is people who are fishing(they have it out there in case someone decides to bite) ,show me the auction I'll tell you who the dealers are,I've been actively looking for a particular coded 4 speed transmission (It's a number matching thing)for a project.The biggest problem with these trannies and ebay is shipping,they are heavy so shipping will kill you.So when the fishing is bad,try a different spot. Englishtown was this past weekend places like that and Fords at Carlisle are always good places to look.I see good used units with plenty of life left in them for $200-$600 at swap meets and through classified ads.

I know a guy who has a nice T-10 4 speed for $400 or so.

I have a world class t5 in my 69 convertible with a 351W......haven't broken it yet and its been 12 years......I don't drag race it but I do beat it up a bit with some displays and a couple of stoplight runs.......motor has 10.5 to 1, small cam alum intake and 4bbl.
