By normal standards this 1969 Shelby GT500 is a rare car. It’s just one of eighteen built in Grabber Yellow, and just one of three with a 3.50 Traction-Lok rear axle. What makes this GT500 truly special, though, is that it was once owned by the late Carroll Shelby. The current owner, who purchased the car from Shelby, has spent the last ten years meticulously restoring the GT500 back to showroom condition but has now decided it’s time to part ways. The car is scheduled to be sold to the highest bidders through Mecum Auctions in Monterey next month. The GT500 still retains its matching numbers 428 Cobra Jet engine with 4-speed transmission, and a Marti Report and paperwork dating back to 1969 will be included in the sale.
