I have the 2.3T in my ranger, which I bought a few months ago, and just started driving it everyday now that the weather has been shitty. The first fill up I got 14mpg!!! Of course, being it was the first time driving a turbo'd vehicle, I boosted just about all the time, it was fun until I had to pay $45 to go 200 miles... So this time, I took it easy and watched the boost gauge to make sure I was taking it easy, and only boosted to get up the hills because the damn four banger doesn't make any power in the lower rpms.
I thought I could coax at least 20 mpgs out of it, but no, I fell short and it got 18 mpgs. I know the difference between 18 and 20 isn't much but weren't they rated for 18mpg city and 25mpg highway? Back then those ratings were a bit high since they baby the vehicle and take like 5 minutes to hit 60mph, but I was at least expecting in the low 20s... :nono:
