Update!!! The dealer installed a new cluster after some diagnostics. But still no communication with the cluster or pcm. They are going to start digging deeper to see what else they can find. Looks like another week or so without my car. No big deal, not using it anyway.

I could be wrong about the unplugging battery, but the cel was caused by the o2 sensors and to backtrack the only thing done was remove the front bumper and replace the headlights. Now it may sound strange, but this can cause any number of issues, who knows. It is taken care of.

Don't have to. Just plug in your X3, Scroll down to vehicle info, then click check codes. It will read what is causing the CEL and give you a number, then we can see what caused it.

Do you have a handheld tuner that you could pull the DTC's? Headlights should not cause a CEL.

Just like mine bro. Make sure you adjust the pins on the hood correctly with the supplied "o" rings. Took me about 2hrs to do. The adjusting is what took the longest. You will also notice that the hood pull is a little harder, but not much. Also, the cdc hood struts do not hold up my cervinis...
