I hear what you guys are saying,Regarding Mecum, I watch it here and there. I guess I'm partial to Barrett Jackson because of the way it gets covered on T.V. Plus it's been running for 40 years, etc. As far as the whole non reserve aspect I like it.I know guys that have been buying and selling...
Hey I was wondering if any of you guys or gals watch it? I don't think it is the sole determinant of the classic car hobby but I feel it helps shed some light(to me) as to which direction the market is going. That said I'm not much of a sports guy so I guess in a way it's kind of like my super...
Re: Carlisle 2011 - Official Thread
Nice picture,I love it. June seems like it's eon's away at this point......Man this shoveling snow bit is starting to get a bit old............
Hi,
I don't happen to own one but I've had some dealings with them here and there over the years. That said I would look in every crack and crevice for rot, mostly underbody. After that I'd look for completeness of things such as trim.Sadly they don't have much in the way of aftermarket support...
Re: Carlisle 2011 - Official Thread
I'm not positive on how many vending spots I'm getting yet?But when I do the vendor thing I usually get a couple of tickets plus vehicle entrance stickers,I'm not sure how many of my friends might be able to go ,but If I have any extra tickets they will be up...
Mark,if the centers have the same depth and this shaft was hooked up before the rear swap. The front yoke of your driveshaft is just too deep into the transmission.Just wiggle it and pull it back and you should be in business.Good luck
I've been unable to resize and post photos (because I'm a computer dummy) .I posted an ad on craigslist if anyone wants to view photos ,they can look at the ad or P/M Me and I can email them to you. I need space so I'm negotiable, especially for Members of NYMustangs. Thanks...
Hello again, I went back and looked closely at your photos, I would definately grab all of the accessory stuff (pulleys, harmonic balancer, brackets) off of that motor as well as the flywheel, maybe it can be cleaned, checked for cracks and what not, machined and reused? If you want to clean house a...
Hey Jules,
Yup that looks messy. Ok to address and add a bit to your hypothesis,I have seen engines that sat a very long time and ended up with a hole in the cylinder wall.A few years back I bought a full size parts car(sitting in a bone yard for 30 plus years),it was a legit 428 car, that said...
Hey Mark,
Those pictures are not very clear, sadly. That said,Have you tried to pull the driveshaft back? When you do this does the driveshaft fall out of the trans? Front yokes have extra length on them ,they have this because as the car goes over bumps, etc. Technically the distance...
Hey Mark,
Hmmm, I'm trying to picture this? So in theory are you saying it's as if your current shaft is too short? If yes there is slack in driveshaft front yokes, pull the driveshaft back towards the rear of the car and see if it reaches and bolts to the pinion flange? Please get...
Hey Mark,
If your car has headers and sits too low to the ground ,if you are going to drive it on the street I probably wouldn't do the drop.I've known several people(including myself) that had the drop on a street car and ended up crushing/or bending theirs headers on speedbumps and...
Hey Mark,
Yes, you absolutely need to pull the axles before the center can come out. To do this remove the rear drums and undo the four nuts then the axles may slide out,If not the most helpful tool for this is a slide hammer. You can borrow these from the large chain auto stores.You...
For the record Mustangs left the factory with independent front suspensions, one side works independent of the other. The Shelby drop is a good mod, Are you running headers? If so what type? I've seen where street cars with full length and even tri y headers and the drop will bottom out a lot...
Re: Carlisle 2011 - Official Thread
For what it's worth I will be attending,I've only missed one year of Fords at Carlisle since it's inception for the birth of one of my sons(reasonable excuse) LOL. I won't be bringing a car with me as I typically go to shop for parts (and maybe a car) for my...
Hey Raider,
It looks good,For the sake of conversation I'd like to hear some more about your cars.Your profile says you have 3 of them.So if you feel like sharing ,what engine codes, options, how you got them, what they need,anything.....
Hey Mark,
Like everything else with these cars it's all about intended use and more importantly the budget. That said it sounds like you are off to a good start, and reading what you've done I'd say you're staying sort of stock, meaning you're not cutting out the shock towers and going...
