i had a similar problem.. my car was throwing o2 stuck on lean codes, it was pinging or detonating like a sonofabitch when i would get on it hard in high rpm or low rpm in 5th gear.. out that if i dropped a gallon of race gas into the tank it stopped, and ran like a champ.. , its worth a shot..

whats the difference between the typical race fuel you get locally vs the low led 100 octane stuff you can still find on occasion?.. aside from the obvious. i mean for those of us who dont have cats on our cars we can run either fuel right? providing were tuned for that octane rating correct?

theres still some places that sell leaded gasoline, you have to look hard for them but if not stp makes a led additive that will help, you could convert it to run on unleaded but if the car is as it was from the factory id not want to change anything..my brother in law has a 68 gto convertible...
