Here is what I did to mine, I wish I could find a before picture. They were awful but I got them for ten bucks. I sanded them with steel wool then wet sanded with different grits. then I used rogue black, then white from harbor freight. then I powdercoated them!

Some products like never dull work very well. If they are in real bad shape steel wool or a wet sand, and black, then white rouge polishing compound will polish them up very well. I have made Al look like Chrome with enough time. Afterwards you need a product that seals the surface, products...

I polished Al and its a pain just keeping them clean. How bad are they and how nice do you want them to be?

Any kind of non staining polymer wax will do flat black perfectly!
