Yes but I think it depends on the age of your device what version of spotify you need to download. The newest spotify runs on ios5 and up if you have something on 4 or under you need to go online and download an older version of spotify. Just what I have read though havent actually tried it...

I think you will like it, I would also be surprised other than local indie bands if there is an artist you cant find on there. I like it because they usually have a lot of live stuff for the Jam bands I listen to, hard to come by sometimes.
