  • Can somebody please explain to me what happened to the "car guys"? I don't even mean just mustang owners, I'm talking about every car enthusiast. I remember going out on a Friday night (or weekends, or any night for that matter) and there was a 95% chance you would run into some car that has been modded. Whether it was old school american muscle, current muscle, or even ricers. It didn't matter where you went you would always run into someone who had something done (whether it was tasteful or not is up for debate, but that is irrelevant).

Chances are after running into one of these types of cars you generally would cruise with them for a bit, maybe play around (illegally street race if that's your thing) but no matter what it was, it was all in good fun and everyone was a good sport.

Now when I go out, there seems to be maybe a 10% chance of even running into a STOCK muscle car. I rarely see any type of sports car, or even a honda with one of those fart cans (maybe that is a good thing). When I go out for a cruise on the same roads I have been for that past ten years there is nothing around! I am the only car with an exhaust, or any type of modification. I see NOTHING.

It all seems a little odd to me seeing as with facebook and instagram all you see if pictures of people and their cars. Well where are these cars? Are they nonexistent? I know I don't drive mine as often as I once did, but I still get it out and regardless of what I'm driving there still isn't much to look at out there on the roads.

Going back to the facebook and instagram thing, the majority of the cars are imports with some TERRIBLE alignment issues and over sized wheels. I have no idea who thought they may be a good idea, its awful. That being said, I would even appreciate seeing something like that out there. At least there is someone who modded their car the way the want and its out and about.

Please tell me what the hell happened over the past few years. Gas prices are down. Lets cruise!

I see cars every now and then in the Capital Region, but my timing always sucks. I'm usually in the right place, but with the wrong car. I usually see a few nice cars sitting over at Guptils when I occasionally drive by. Then when I'm out in the mustang, I typically don't see anything. Doesn't help that my work schedule makes it tough to make meets and shows on Friday and Saturdays.

I do have to say though, when I used to live in NJ, car spots typically met up later at night, and they typically got huge and out of hand, but they still managed to meet every week.

While it's been a busy year for me this year, I plan on being alot more active with this group next year. We do need more NYM events in this neck of the woods. Watkins Glen was cool this year and I may even go again next year, but its a long ride to take 3 laps around the track. The 50th Anniversary event last year in our area was nice.
Why the hell am I waking up to flurries yet again this morning??? I just want the street sweepers to get out and clean up the roads so I can FINALLY enjoy driving the cobra. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to live in an area where you only get 3 months of enjoyable weather...and out of that 3 months, you're lucky if you have a few days where you'll actually have free time.

    I'm not happy.

    Poo.
Finished some engine work last night and couldnt wait to pull the car out and start out today. What do I wake up to??? RAIN. Dammmn.
Anyone interested in doing a cannonball run style road race this summer?

Well sure have your pick of events, for starters there's the annual Bullrun, want to go high roller then there's the Gumball3K where the 2014 route is Miami to Ibiza(Spain) and passes through NYC starting entry fee is about $75K not including airfare, car, fuel, but it does book the 5 star hotels. If you want to be on a budget ModBall Ralley is much smaller and cheaper doing an East Coast run for just over $1K.
This is the saddest time of year, I packed the cobra up for winter. Now its time to daily drive the 328, not at all a mustang...but still a fun car to drive
