Okay, I've decided to keep the Fox and work on it. I have a bunch of questions to ask, and I figured it was better to create one large post in a thread rather than start a bunch of new ones. So, here goes:
1) I want to go with longtube headers, but it seems everywhere I look, the only ones that are available are only for manual transmission Foxes. I may make the swap to T-5/T-45 someday, but for now, I need to keep it auto. What longtubes can I use with an AOD tranny?
2) What can I do to make my AOD transmission better? It currently shifts at roughly 2K RPMs, I'd like to see it shift more towards the 4K range. Would a different torque converter fix this? Should I consider a B&M shift kit?
3) Can an AODE be swapped easily in place of an AOD? What differences if any (parts), should I be aware of?
4) I have a non-tilt steering column with airbag. I want tilt, and don't care if I keep the airbag or not. For inspection purposes, do I need the airbag, or can I switch to an '87-'88 steering column/wheel with tilt and no airbag? Should this be a direct swap, and have the horn/CC working as normal? If I switch to a non-airbag steering wheel, will my airbag light be continuously on? Would there be a way to make it turn off?
5) The engine has 167K on it. It'll probably need to be rebuilt or replaced in the near future (maybe this winter/early spring). Should I look to purchase a low-miles takeout from a wrecked Fox and slap on a supercharger, or use my current engine, having it stroked to a 347, but then being stuck using the stock heads and intake?
6) I want to clean out the rat's nest known as the normal wiring in Foxes. Other than smog pump removal, what can I do? I have to keep the A/C intact, but is there any way I can hide the wiring?
7) How much of a headache am I in for if I go with an off-road X pipe instead of one that is catted? I don't want to spend the money and then fail the inspection because of it.
That's all I have for right now. Thanks for the help.
