347 vs k20 civic?

me and my bro in law are in the middle of building his 89 gt vert with a 347 stroker as you can see in my albums its got a 347 stroker with 351 heads 1.7 rockers no cam yet cant decide 355 rear 42# injectors upper and lower 93 cobra manifold mallory 600 fuel pump a local guy wants to race him with his stock k20 motor in his fully gutted hatch i got my money on the stang wat do u guys think?

I think the Mustang should be able to take it.
On another note, I think you should try and get a better flowing intake. That cobra manifold is going to hold back the power potential of your setup

Well of course he's going to tell your brother-in-law that, he wanted to sell the motor. I'm not calling him a liar, I'm just saying it is highly unlikely.

As the others have said, the Cobra intake and 351 heads will be a major restriction on that engine.

At this point, I'd have to say that the "Honduh" would win, but if it is nothing more than a grudge race for bragging rights, who cares. If it is for money, back out.

i've seen people run good numbers with a cobra intake. i think the heads are the weak link

if your planning on supercharging it the bottle neck might be less noticeable b.c you can just force the air into it...there are plenty of people running over 400whp with almost stock motors and a power adder and im sure you know how restrictive stock heads are...but like everyone is saying N/A that motor is restricted and your prob not gunna see good numbers out of it. but ur setup could b in the 12s, lots of guys take there stock 302s into the 12s although i dont know how lol, itll take a lot of driver mod of course...but those k20 civcs are nothing to sleep on...and who knows the bottle could be hidden lol

hell, stock 302 goin 12's is cake so if you cant get a 347 in the 12's then theres something really wrong. Its not the motor, its all in the suspension.

Ok, is the civic running slicks/drag radials? On street tire the car is a low 13 second car at around 105mph(+/- 2 mph). On slicks my buddies 94 civic just went 12.8@105, with a few mods, nothing crazy. Another buddies grey 95 stock K20 civic went 13.5@106 on street tires.

Also, what kind of racing are you talking about, dig, or roll?

A set of AFR's, or TFS heads would be nice on top of that motor. Also look into a good intake, maybe a used Edelbrock RPMII for it. What C/R is the motor?

My budget 331 car went a best of 11.82@112 N/A, and 11.1@121 on a small hit, so there is potential there..you just need a few parts here and there to make it a GOOD runner. Spray doesnt hurt either

If its a well put together 347, you shouldnt have a problem. THe K20 swap civic's are quick though. Make sure it is actually stock, no spray and such. Dig you SHOULD have him(with driver mod), and a roll will be a bit closer, but you should still have the trap to beat him.

yea i suggest changing the intake and going with those afr heads and chosing a cam too before placing the bet and make sure your gettin the power to the ground then smak tha ricer and i think he means compression ratio but i could b wrong
