leaking intake question

what's up guys? I've got a 99 gt with a leaking intake:thumbsdown: Does the dorman replacement make you loose power? I can get the dorman with the alternator bracket cheaper than the ford manifold. If it's gonna loose power i'll spend the extra cash on the ford unit.:awesomework:

Ive heard nothing bud bad about dorman. What are you plans for your car? If its a DD like mine go with the Ford unit with aluminum coolant crosover. I toasted my intake at the heater core nipple a few months back. I got mine from American Muscle for $180. If you have the $$$/ are going to be modding the car a lot get nice aluminum intake. You will also need some other parts that will run you about $100 from a dealer. I have an alternator bracket that I didnt use on my install that I can hook you up with.
Where is yours leaking?

If you have to take it apart no matter what, you might as well spend the extra bucks for an aluminum intake. Then you can have more comfort down the road if you plan on spray or forced induction. I can't understand why Ford would ever put a plastic manifold on a MUSTANG in the first place.. Seems stupid on their part to me.

If I had to get an intake I'd get a Kenne Bell SC myself....lol j/k :) Don't skimp, get OEM Ford or an aftermarket performance intake.

HEAT SOAK! That is why. The only reason people have issues with nitrous is because they spray before 3000RPMs or have a leaking injector causing fuel to puddle in the bottom. This is also only with wet kits that have a nozzle or spacer setup. Dry and Fogger kits do not have these problems.

Also you are pretty likely to blow up an aluminum intake as you are the plastic.

Not much outflows the Ford PI right out of the box until way up in the RPM range. Unless you have a head/cam setup that allows you the usage of 6200+ RPM you are wasting your money.

Thanks for all the info. I'm gonna go with the ford unit. It's cracked near the thermostat and i also think it's warped at the gasket surface. I think the 150 shot of bottle finished her off but went out with a grinn on my face.:D

i just replaced my intake for my 99gt with a dorman with the aluminum crossover. everything seemed to fit well and works fine. the only issue was that the alt. mounting bracket didnt have places to mount it on the intake itself.

Go to a dyno and you will be surprised with the 10hp or more you just gave up.
