I installed Steeda's oil separator today. I drove @ 30 miles and there's oil in the dang thing already. No wonder when I changed my throttle body and upper plenum they were black on the inside. This needs to be a MUST mod for maintenance.
Blowby...I've had little to no accumulation after my motor was rebuilt which I take as a good sign. Before the motor went kaboom, I got oil all of the time.

You had no accumulation in the oil separator at all? I think you should have some oil vapors in the PCV vacuum line even if it were just from the engine being hot and some oil does stay in the cross hatch from honing the cylinders. If I didn't accumulate any oil I would think something may be wrong.
I understand that there is some oil that flows through the air lines of the car, but I don't know much about this part. What exactly does it help? is there any real benefit of having it?

I've had "little to no accumulation", nothing like I had before the motor went. This motor has been dyno'd several times, years apart, with results that were almost identical (<5 HP/TQ difference), so, I don't have any concern with the health of the motor....yet. We'll see how it does once the turbo tuning is done. The shortblock is supposed to be good to 700hp, but we'll see.

An oil mist is said to lower the octane rating of the fuel. In addition, to us 96-98 cobra folks, the IMRC's gum up very easily. Pull the upper off of a 1st GEN 4v and you will see it covered in an oily film from the oil being recirculated into the intake tract.
yea i added a oil seperator and its working, i use to get a spark knock after 10 mins of driving, but since then no knock and the motor handles a lil better, but then again i dont got a gt or cobra, its a v6 lmao
I'm sure all cars can benefit from this air/oil separator, but some cars more than others. Right now my cars is nearly stock, so maybe down the line I'll do this mod, I'm all about a healthy car.
What got my attention was when I swapped out my throttle body and upper intake plenum, especially the plenum had a lot of crap in it from the oil. Now I've read that that oil being fed back through the intake system can cause detonation in super or turbo charged engines. And since I just put on a supercharger I thought it was more important to do it. I imagine emissions will be lower now as well. I just don't hear to many people talking about it and thought Id'e share my experience with it.
I used the clear one so I could see when it was getting full. The aluminum ones you cant see shit. You can make one yourself like Onlycodered said. Probably cheaper to buy an oil separator from Harbor freight and pick up the fittings there too. Make a bracket to hold it in place or pick it up online. I got mines from CJ Pony when it was on sale. Ha, if you go to CJ Pony, my pic is the last pic shown on the customer pics of the separator.
