Problem with breaks, need help

Well my Mustang GT has been in my Stamford Garage sitting there for 2 weeks while I decide on what to do about my breaks.

I have a 2008 GT Convertible, its almost 1.5 years old and has 12k miles. Its mostly stock except for: Steeda Air Intake, 92 Octane Tune, Corsa muflers.

My problem is the breaks. They are spongy and not very accurate, the driving i have done has been 70% stop and go traffic which is hell on the breaks.

I have stock 17" rims and do not wish to buy 18" or 19" rims and tires in order to fit better breaks since that will end up costing several thousand dollars to do right. My reason for staying 17" is mostly because replacement tires are cheap and the ride is more confortable.

Will new Roters and break pads help my situation? If so can anyone reccomend some that will fit my breaks?

hawk pads are really good, also change your brake lines to stainless steel and i wud just keep ur stock rotors considering they are almost brand new and u shud get rid of that spongy feel...maybe look into better calipers i guess

x2 exactly what i was going to suggest.Make sure you get the hawk street pads not the race.The race ones tend to make noise

Spongy feeling is usually as a result of brake line issues, you may need to bleed your break system because it has air pockets in it and or you may have a leak in your break lines. Stainless Steel break lines are known to reduce the "Spongy" feeling, they cost about $200 and you will have to bleed your breaks.

Have you done anything with the breaks lately and did not bleed the system? that may be where you problem started. Your car should still be under warranty, take it to Ford if you dont want to spend the money trying to figure it out.

If you do mostly stop and go I would say your rotors are glazed. They need to be measured and if thick enough resurfaced, if too thin replaced. Fancy smansy cross drilled slotted blag blah blah rotors will not help you so save your money. Hawk or EBC street pads will work fine even with stock rotors. Pedal feel is from rear so check the condition of rear brake too. Bleeding is not needed it's a sealed system so no air will enter unless there is a hole,leak or a bleeder was opened. However you may have a swelled rubber brake hose aswell from the constant stop and go so I agree with the steel braded line.
