1967 with a worked 390 - can't get it started

So Limey,
A little birdy told me you've bought a second classic stang. And that you are having problems with your 67? There's no little birdy,I'm a longtime VMF'r.(over 10 years). Anyhow If you want to pick my brain about anything like figuring out what 390 engine is in your stang and such let me know? I'd be more than happy to help.

BTW I like that 66 you just bought, Electrical and trim issues? Let me know I've got a ton of parts and experience with these early cars. I've rewired and done interiors on several of them over the years.

@Ponyboy289 - thanks for your kind offer. I'm sure I will be picking your brains at some point. As I mentioned on the VMF thread I've just started dismantling the 66 - removed the heater core and found the dreaded cowl rot. Also, more "usual" stuff like no heater plenum, hoses or def vents. Also wires to blower motor were cut. And the latest discovery is some spider legs that look like they came off a tarantula...

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it,what can I say I like seeing Classic Mustangs on the road . So If I can help someone get theirs going why not.

Limey no worries don't be discouraged by the cowl and such,People called them "Rustangs" For a reason. The brain picking is a standing offer, I actually have a Doctorate in cowl vent repair. I mentioned the parts. I know this isn't the classified section but when I tell you I have a lot of stuff I mean it,I have stuff sitting on my shelfs (engines,transmissions,Heater parts,wiper setups,convertible top stuff,fastback parts,rears,hardware,interior,glass,etc.etc.etc.)that I would sell reasonably. I also happen to be in a bit of a spring cleaning mode so, it could be a win win for both of us.LOL. Dont sweat the cut wires,there's only two of them so that's an easy splice.Is the blower motor working when you put power to it?

Sorted the blower motor out now - the wires were completely frayed but some carefully applied electrical tape sorted that. Pretty good airflow for a potentially 45 year old motor!

Update on the 390 - I had it running for a few minutes last week - it then overheated and quite literally blew the rad. The cap stayed put but coolant started exploding from the tubes

So, today's project will be fitting a new rad and thermostat. Wish me luck...

I have seen this before especially with a big carb and a half to threequarter turn cam takes two people will not hurt the engine like starter fluid and even works when flooded.
use propane (not lit) down the carb, California used to use it as an enrichment during smog testing but has other advntages like starting modified engine. I used to have to use it on a fiends 32 coup with twin 750 double pumpers that would flood it while it was running.
