biggest cam in a 306????

right now i have a e cam in my 306 it sounds cool but not radical i want the crazyy loopy big block cam sound whats the biggest cam i can get to make it sound like that something that would scare the hell out of people

Cubic inch doesn't determine cam size. There are lots of variables. One of our cars has a 306 with 565/577 lift and tons of duration. It won't make much power with small heads though. Give us as many details as you can about the engine.

just a 306 forged bottom end, gt40 iron heads, roller rockers, 750 holley, long tube headers, thats all i know i bought the car with the motor idk comp ratio or anything else. I just wanted to sound like those 10sec cars with those really loopy cams that sound so beautiful

Agreed.....engine combination should be more of a priority than a lopey sound.
Something like comp cams 35-560-8 would most likely be the idle your looking for.
Just keep in mind, the car would not run very nice unless it was intended for
those kind of cam specs.

Port the GT40s and with a good intake and mild cam you should see some improvements.

anderson N-91 or N-41..... look um up on youtube, .... they both sound glorious

Get a custom ground cam from Jay at Camshaft Innovations or Ed at FTI. The exhaust setup can have alot to do with the sound as well. I really don't think it is worth tearing your motor apart just to have a more lopey cam. IMHO the E303 has all the lope I care to have on a street car.

Yeah like on my car, I have had some people ask me if I put a bigger cam in my car because of the way it sounds. The engine is stock still, and my exhaust setup is shorty headers, o/r x- pipe, and slp lm1s.

But my suggestion to the op, is to use the cam that is best for your engine and not worry about how it sounds. Let the performance of the car speak for itself. You can get a bigger cam though if you upgrade the heads and intake...

Nothing wrong with the Performer RPM at all, later on you can get it ported out by tmoss and it will flow as good as anything else if not better.

EDIT... just saw you were carbed. Performer RPM is ok, alot of guys like the Weiand Stealth better though.

I used to be a big supporter of Jay Allen at C.I. His health took a turn and I'm not sure he is still doing cams. He was however still taking orders and money and not getting people their cams. Hell it took me 3 months to get mine. Some have been waiting a year with no refund. Anyways, if you do decide on a custom ground contact Ed Curtis or Bullet. Make sure you degree in the cam as well. Just because it's a custom grind doesn't meannits gruond correctly. I installed one for a customer recently and it had to be advanced 4 degrees to get the timing events correct.

I remember seeing something on Yellow Bullet now that you mention that. I know some people use Buddy Rawls as well, I don't know if he just specs the cam and thats it though.

My nephew ordered a set of heads,a custom cam and intake from ed curtis in August and still hasn't received the heads or the intake and now he's not even returning he's emails..He spend allot of money with this guy only to get treated like a jerk off..If he doesn't hear anything by the end of the week we are taking a ride to Rhode island next weekend and paying him a visit
