putting car away... storing the wheel..

So I am putting the car away and I take the wheels off the car for the winter. any tips on how to store the wheels? they are chrome. Should I put anything on them? or just clean them up real nice and keep them covered and dry? thanks

My Car stays on the road all year round, I dont use it much but when the roads are clean and the sun is out on a weekend I take it out to clean the tires every once in a while

I would put a coat of Wax on them and DONT wipe it off
Then comes spring you wipe it off and WA LA...

If its in a garage I wouldnt bother doing anything to the wheels.

I had a few truck with aftermarket chrome wheels that I took off for the winter and I just put them in my garage or basement and didnt do anything to them.

I don't do anything special with my wheels, just keep em dry.

Why do you take them off?

Maybe he thinks they will get flat spotted? With the radials nowadays you shouldn't have any problems with them being in one place for a while.

5 out of the last 6 cars I've had have been Supercharged Fords and no matter how bad the NY winters have been over the years I have NEVER ONCE taken a car off the road for winter. I'm not saying I drove them all the time but there's always a sunny dry weekend or two in Dec Jan Feb.
Whats better than warming up the fluids and tires in 20 degree air.

that being said, my malibu sat in a garage for 6 months and the tires have wonderfully noisy flat spots. Nothing is for certain...

Me, personally, I would clean the wheels and put a coat of wax on them, overinflate them to 45psi and then store them...

for the last 18 years I always drive the car a little every two or three weeks to keep the car ok when spring comes with chrome rims.

well I take the car off the road and switch plates to my winter and I need new tires on the front thanks to dunn tire doing such a wonder job aligning the front end. And I put the stock tires on just to be safe cause I dont really want flat spots if it does indeed happen or not. I store them in my parents barn so yeah they will stay dry.... thanks
