How do I make my rear suspension stop squeaking, "HELP"

Dont know what section to put this in since I have a 8.8 Straight Rear Axle
with Steeda LCA's, FMS UCA's, Eibach Coil Springs, Airbags, Adjustable Shocks, & Wilwood 4 Piston Rear Brakes with Drilled/Slotted 12" Rotors.

The rear suspension makes the most annoying squeaking noise "each and every time the suspension moves". I dont have to tell you on these after winter LI roads thats pretty much 24/7 on "any" side street.
So it driving me frigging crazy... :smash:

With the car shut off I can push either side up or down from the deck lid or bumber and you hear it every time, it's like a dam seal bark I tell ya, aark aark aark

I was under there a few times and everything looks good, everything runs and works right, it just has the most annoying squeak each and every time it moves. I know on the L's sometimes you would get this after putting a set of 58" long bars on it, it would come from the poly urethane bushings (or whatever they are). Do I check them, loosen, tighten, grease, any suggestions ???

I also tried numerous rear adjustments to see if that would make a change yesterday. Diff settings on the shocks, diff amounts of air in the bags, no change, still sounds like a seal barking, aark aark aark ....

Had it out for hours and hours and hours yesterday and it's running frigging amazing. It seems to get stronger and faster everything I drive it (ok maybe I'm just killing it A LOT more )

I'm wondering if my rear shocks are just toast, it seems like they dont do much unless I set them to the stiffest setting, even there it's not nearly as stiff as the front ???

Did that of course but no change

Unfortunately it may just be the Bars or even the Sub Frame Connectors
(mine are custom welded tubular steel bars)

I had it way up in the air and I got to say everything looks perfect under there, I checked pretty much every square inch of the suspension from head to toe and it all looks absolutely perfect and everything is working. The bags are holding air, I messed with the shock adjustment again today and it does clearly make a difference, and everything is dry. AMOF I just did a few BIG TIME smokeys (and a little sideways driving) and the suspension feels perfect.

Unfortunately it may just be a noise I have to deal with. The bars on my old Lightning made noise 24/7 and it's just something you learn to live with I guess . It's really no biggy it's just the more I drive it the more I want to learn every square inch of it and if I hear something out of the norm I just like to know what it is and why.

Anybody has any suggestions by all means lets hears them....

Poly or solid bushings?

The Shocks have Red Poly Bushings, the UCA seem to have what looks like
std bushings with the rubber, and the Steeda LCO seem to be solid ???

I had a good look at the LCA while I was greasing it and it just looked like a steel sleeve between 2 poly washers (if that makes sense).

Sorry I may be an old motor head but I got to be honest I'm still learning a lot about this set up. Want to talk L suspension and I'm your man but the whole Steeda LCA is new to me.

ok this is simple. you gotta head towards canarsie from JFK. doin' atleast a buck 25, and there will be a bump that your gonna hit... clears up all noises, works everytime... lol

Hey Rob, this sounds like there's no isolators on top and bottom of the rear springs. I had no isolators on my GT and the squeeks were 24/7 especially on bumps... after I put em on, it became smoother ride and no squeeks...

Check if you have isolators on the rear springs, sounds like there isn't..

I have a feeling your right, I cant get under it again right now, but I was driving it before and thats kind of what I'm starting to think.
I can actually reach inside the rear rim and grab the coil and I did that but it seems tight (I need to have some one bounce it while I do that to make sure.) I'm thinking because it has bags they took them out

How can I tell what these isolators are or even what they look like to see If its what I need?? Please and thank you I would prob be the best thing any one could ever help me with!lol

It's basically a fancy word for a piece of rubber at the top / bottom of your coil springs.
Lots take them out for the lowering effect but of course that means you now have metal against metal so noises are pretty much a given...
(of course they could also wear or rip)

I agree with the isolators possibly being your problem. Did you try popping the shocks off and bouncing it without them hooked up?

Exactly.



Driving with Isolators and without is like day and night. will never drive without isolators again.

The stock ones are rubber and black. The ones in the pic above are polyurethane, lasts longer than the rubber. You should def buy the polyurethane iso's they're cheap.

No but I may have to do that, the reason I originally thought they could be bad is because when I first put 35lbs of air in the Bags Saturday the back went up so high you wouldnt believe it. Looked like hell and you could stick your whole hand between the tire and wheel well. I then set the shocks on the stiffest setting and went for a ride. When I threw it in a hi speed turn (lets say like an exit ramp) the rear DS Tire rubbed the wheel well. Hard to believe with Coils, Air Bags, Adj Shocks, and a Rear Sway Bar, the car would roll that much,
(especially with the Shocks set on the stiffest)

BTW
What shocks would I buy for my set up anyway, GT Shocks ???
