Opinions on Lower Intake Manifold gasket

Hey all - I am in the middle on swaping out the stock intake manifolds on an 89 LX.

I have read just about every tech write-up on every forum, and the jury is out on wether or not to use RTV silicone on the gaskets between the lower intake and the engine block.

It seems the majority of write-ups say NO silcone these gaskets don't need it.

Other forums say lay on the silcone thick.

Others say leave the gaskets dry but lay a heavy bead of Silcone on the front and back of the actual lower manifold.

Thoughts?

i put a little around the water jackets, and just use silicone on the valley rails, i put it thick and let it set for about 10 minutes before i set the lower manifold

No silicone on the intake gaskets but throw out the little cork/rubber strips and use a thick bead of ultra black in its place.

I do the same thing. Also get some studs to help with aligning everything when putting lower intake back on.

Silicone for sure. nothing like ensuring that shits being sealed. excess will be squeezed out.
