Transmission ??

I currently have an AODE that is shifting great but i am planning on installing a new engine and a S/C and i dont know if the AODE can handle the HP...

I was thinking of swapping my transmission t5 a T56 or maybe even a C4... Anyone have any suggestions ??

I want to do it once and do it right... I dont really want to spend another $4K but like i said i want it to be right!!!

Im open to any ideas, what do you think?

I like the auto but dosent the auto rob like 50 extra hp from the crank to the wheels? Sorry im relativley new to this and i want to make sure i make the right decision..

I had the AOD in my 93 T-Bird SC, it was barely up to the task of handling the stock 240 hp /300 tq, once i put a pulley and exhuast on, it could not handle it.

AOD is cable controlled, AOD-E is electronically controlled, both 4 speeds, 4th is overdrive. 4R70 may require massaging to work with the older style ECU's as they were used from 99 - 04.

The harcore dragster run Auto because its more conistant but stick is more fun. Stick or Auto, that questions only you can asnwer, either way it looks like you want to make big power and you gonna have to have your trans built, why not beef up your AODE in the off season?

AODE's can be beefed but are VERY expensive to do and are still unreliable. They are computer controlled and are very touch when it comes to gear swaps and convertor changes. They also require a good tuner to get them right. The problem is tha ford doesn't make a good OD tranny for a SBF. You are pretty much stuck with a stick if you want massive power, OD, and minumum hassle. Unless you gou with a C4 and then you have to give up some driveability.

The '04 4R75w is a awesome tranny, Replace the OD band and use a better clip for the front pump and it will handle 600hp easily..But , Like the other guy said using different converters confuses the tranny and PCM, You usually gotta get a tune, Like I am.
Read this first paragraph, The guy who did some work on his tranny , also did my converter.. bc automotive << There building my Converter as we speak..

Can't use a 4R75W on a 302/351 though. Unless someone makes an adapter plate.

Nikki's car has an AODE with 4:10's and it cruises at 65mph at 2400 rpm. Turn off the OD though and it's right up to 3400. :eek:
I would stay with 3:27's or 3:55's with a C-4, and if you don't think 3:55's will be strong enugh out of the hole I almost put the Bogger on the bumper again after I put in mine and cut a 1.30 60ft. LOL
That was better than the 4:10's or 3:90's

I have low milage TK0600 tk0 600 if your interested.But in all honesty if your going to be racing your car frequently stick with the A0D.With your new combo you should be in the mid 10's with an AOD.
