WTB: Mustang Recaro Seats

I am looking for a pair of Recaro seats that came in pre 1986 Mustang GTs and SVOs.

Just an FYI but you can buy the SVO foam and seat covers and install them on regular seats as the frame is the same, it just won't have the manual lumbar. The only Recaro seats are early Cobra and Pace Car.

Are certain about that? I was thinking of trying it but wasn't sure the foam would fit my frame.

So, I found the Mustang Monthly article online. But it states, "Because ’84-’89 Mustang GT seats use the same frame as the SVO, the new TMI foam and covers also allows Mustang GT owners to upgrade to SVO-style seats."

So, is there a difference between my '91 LX seats and '84-'89 GT seats?

91 seats have the small headrest other than that nothing.

I think I just found the difference between 84-89 and 90-93 seats in a seat foam catalog site. It lists the following....
84-89 GT seats have a 26" High Backrest
91-93 GT seats have a 24" High Backrest

'90 isn't even listed. I am assuming this means 84-89 seats are a bit taller??? Maybe the foam can still be fitted? I just don't want to order everything and not have it fit.

Good find, here is the page for ordering foam from Mustang Depot. At the very bottom you can see what I mentioned above.
I guess 91-93's back rest is 2" shorter. As long as there's no width difference...which I don't think. I can probably cut-down the SVO foam to fit my seats.

Be sure to pick up extra loose flat foam from Michaels, AC Moore etc. I redid my 86 GT seats last year, with all new foam and leather upholstery from TMI. I pretty much did them twice as you really need to take up slack in certain spots. A LOT of trial and error, but well worth the end result. As DSG above stated, only 79 Pace cars, some 80-81 Cobras and 82 GTs (and some 82 Capris) came with real Recaro seats.

I found '91 seats on Craigslist cheap and had them re-upholstered using SVO foam.
