
Ford won’t start delivering 2015 Mustangs until later summer, but that doesn’t mean the aftermarket isn’t already hard at work developing new parts for the car. Whipple is one of the companies getting a head start, and has previewed what will likely be a very popular upgrade for 2015 Mustang owners – a supercharger system boasting 700 horsepower from the 5.0-liter V8.
Most notable in the new design is the front entry air inlet, which Whipple says “significantly outflows the older style rear feed based superchargers. The CAD renderings released by the company also confirm our guess that Whipple will no longer be supplying Ford Racing with their supercharger system.
In addition to the new design the 2015 Mustang supercharger will also be using Whipple’s 2.9-liter W175ax system (previously the 2.3-liter unit was used), a 15 percent larger bar-plate intercooler, a larger intercooler reservoir and a massive 170mm oval inlet. A 6-rib belt system will be standard, while a 10-rib system will be optional. Both complete kits and tuner kits will be available.
