What to use to clean heads?

I have my heads off and wanna clean them out throughly, what should I use to do this? I don't have a parts cleaner or anything so any suggestions? I was going to just use WD40 and wipe it all off with a micro fiber towel.

find an engine shop or machine shop and get them cleaned for like 40 bucks

+1 what he said, or if you have plans to be cleaning out other stuff, just get a cheap parts washer at Harbor Freight.
