Tranny Poblem?

I have a 96 Mustang GT with 109k on it and am having a problem. Its an auto transmission. Im having trouble getting her to shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I can go up to about 20mph, n then when i hit the gas the rpms shoot up,but the speedometer goes nowhere and the car doesnt shift correctly. Its like im in neutral once I hit 20mph i have to let off the gas for a couple of seconds and the car will then shift, then after I am in second it's fine. Idk what the hell is wrong with it and there is no check engine light on! Help anyone

Low on fluid, Governor no good, Not sure man. that's all that popped into my pea brain just now.

deff slipping. Had an explorer with that issue.

mmmm not really sure what to do to fix but maybe nows the time to do manual swap

check your fluid, that's a good starting point and eliminates the most common problem.

Thanks guys, i just got the car back last week cuz i had a bad ground and it kept draining the battery. When i got it back I had low oil light on for about a week, cuz shes leaking oil, and check engine light on, but the car ran fine. The light went off about 3 days ago, then the next day this problem started.

oh and try some lucas transmission fix oil. Heard it works wonders actually.

Any chance its something really simple(always seems to be that way), that its like just low on oil and transmission fluid or sumthin, Im hopin I don't need a new tranny. Its goin to the shop tmrw 2 see exactly whats wrong with it tho.

Just did man it's good. Recently got all fluids n shit changed within the month.

If you have not installed one already, I'd put a nice valvebody in the trans it will help it last longer and give you some nice firm shifts!

Good idea, my mechanic also mentioned something about either engine mounts or tranny mounts, not sure. Im goin 2 pick her up in an hour or so, so ill see then. Also 2 electrical codes came up so ill see what those are exactly.
