Thats an excellent question on that mod. It would probably remove .02-.04 off the quarter mile time. The new drive shaft will weigh much less near 29lbs less than the stock. Better made. Price over 500$ for aluminum. American Muscle has this mod..NEW from Axle Exchange. Based o what you plan to do , i would stay stock. Cost and gains may not be worth it. Still i like swaping them. Both my mustangs had a new driveshafts put in ,but with more power applications added........
Pretty much my feeling now, just stay stock for now. I took advantage of the sale on AM for the Auburn LSD with plans for 3.73 gears. Might do the DS down the road in this case then.
also I noticed you use RealSpeed... a lot, so take it you would recommend them to do the LSD/Gear install?
I highly recommend them . Been with a few years now. They are the real deal. They installed the LSD on both of my Mustangs. Fantastic shop. Give Matt a call or PM him on the site........
I put the aluminum DS on my 99...at the same time I had 3.73s installed so I'll be damned if I can attest to any acceleration.
It's one of those things where it was cheaper for the DS than paying for a u joint service.. so one of those nice mods that helps a couple ways. In your case I'd put the money towards the exhaust

Yea, think i'll do the Ds somewhere later down the line, already have the exhaust lined up, just need to get around to ordering the gt/cs bumper and getting a shop to paint it and hopefully install it all.
