Should i pull the motor or....

Im unsure which route to take. Im installing cams, full exhaust w/ LT headers and i have to replace my clutch.

Would it be easier just to pull the motor and do it all while its out or would that just be just as much as a pain in the ass as leaving it in with the only difference being that im saving time not pulling the motor.

I have the space to do it but i don't know how much work is involved in pulling the motor.

To do cams your best bet is to taking engine out, are U also doing the valve springs and retainers, way easier if you pull it out with the K-member all at onces, Big job all together, there's no easy way of doing it, good luck

To do cams correctly in a modular you need to remove the timing cover. To make this a workable job and not some feat only a master contortionist would attempt I would second the motion of just dropping the K-member. Besides you have to access the front, the sides and the rear, it should be a no brainer.

If you are going to do cams I would suggest checking in at anderson ford. They have a tool so you will not have to take off the V cover. saves lots of time. Unless your stock bump sticks have press on sprockets then off goes the V cover. I think it was 96-98 motors that had the press on sprokets and the newer ones were bolt and washer. I converted to that. But don't hold me to that knowledge. Just call a ford dealer and they could tell you with their software. Is the Saleen a 4 valve? This tool is only for 2v They are telling you to pull your motor. Not sure if its easier or not. I did mine without pulling the motor. I had to take off my V cover as well and that was not all that bad. I have very little room to accomplish this but all in all. was not a headache for me.

The pressed on sprockets cam with the Windsor engines along with caps instead of a cradle.

The Saleen has a 2v engine. But remember he is not only doing cams but headers too and a clutch. If it was just one of them I wouldn't always say drop it but three! Hell ya I would drop it as each one of those are more easily accomplished with the motor out.

You don't really pull the motor so much as just drop the whole front of the car out from under itself.

I would say to do that just for the headers. I know I can't get my headers out without doing so. Them engine bays are fairly small. But since it would already be to that point, I would just get everything done before setting the motor back down.

If you have a lift pull the engine with the cradle out the bottom. If not, I'd take the time to do it in the car. Its definitely possible in the car. Even my 4v isn't too bad. But maybe I'm the one thats nuts:smash:
