Piston Problems..

So looking into my problem a little further i found some more damaging news...

I had a plug in cylinder 8 that a little piece of the tip broke off some how when the motor was running.. Turns out to be the piston is just about fried.. We went in with a camera and you could see the piston and the wall are all torn up.

So my options are...

A) Get rid of it and run!
B) Bore and stroke the motor.
C) Get a new long block and pistons and rebuild it.

...are you 100% sure the cylinder wall is scored?! ....I would get a new coil first and try that before I broke down an engine! ...Compression test?

Yeah tim i wish i would have taken a picture of it.. The piston wasn't completely gone but the edges looked horrible. The guy who looked at it said that might be why i'm getting some thumping at idle. Lossing compression in that cylinder. Unfortuently i'm at work now till midnight so i won't be doing any thing today with it. I'm going to swap out the coil pack. I'm pretty sure it's cylinder 8's coil pack, seeing as thats the cylinder i'm having the most problems with.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that!

This is just an excuse to go bigger and better. Time to put in a 302 stroker, big twin screw and boost the snot out of it!

...Try to get a pic if you can! sounds like you have a good place to start IMO! ...just hate to see you rip the thing out! :(

Okay so i got a little break from work. I went to ford and got a new coil pack. First shot i replaced the cylinder 8 coil pack and it stopped the hestation. But i still have the piston issue..

I'm not sure what i want to do.. I was thinking a long block because although it would cost a little more it would take less time and cost less in the long run.

If i get a short block i'd have to take it somewhere to get it assembled. With a long block i can do the work my self.

Take the car out and see what happens....can't go wrong at this point!

same short block i have. running 17lb of boost with 12000 miles and no problems.
