looks like I'm catching this one a bit late. I will be the first to admit that Ford did a terrible job on the stock shift bracket. David Barton is right in Marathon for those who are willing to drive. He's only 45 minutes from my house. My girlfriend got me the shifter and bracket and I've had NO trouble getting into 2nd gear since. For those who don't believe, simply research it. The stock bracket makes it almost impossible under certain conditions of high revving to get into 2nd gear. I am glad that the NHTSA closed this though. If people didn't like the bracket, they didn't have to buy the car in the first place. For those who bought it sight unseen, it was their job to research it. I don't like that Ford did what they did, but nobody was forced to buy the car and it didn't hurt anything other than people's patience (including mine). I must also say that the stock shift assembly was a piece of garbage as well. The materials are terrible and it was rusted when I took it out. Nothing else on the car is at all. That's what you get when you buy a car that has amazing performance for a low price. The few things that are bad are easy and cheap to make better if it bothers you that much. Government should have never touched this.
