Anyone in Dutchess County or neighboring areas........
In the parking lot of the former Stop and Shop store (now vacant) at the light at the top of the hill just north of the CIA campus. Also across from the street from Cocoa's restaurant and the new location of Dunkin Donuts.
The usual car show & trophies with DJ and various vendors to create a street fair atmosphere. Their fourth year, the last 3 years had sporatic rain, but looks like a good forecast for this year.
I am taking my '68 Mustang (unrestored original) which after this show will be going into long term storage since I don't use it much and don't want to put the mileage on it anymore.
I can only mention what they have done in the past 3 years, as I do not know what they plan for this year.
The event is still rather new to the town and I hope it develops and builds into a larger venue. They have the car show with a DJ. Then vendor spaces are availble to rent, so it depends on what businesses take the initiative to rent space. There have been specialty foods both packaged locally and prepared for consumption on premise. Vendors selling bakery items, fresh produce, Rita's has attended selling their itailian ice etc, jewelry, home services, even people rent spaces to sell personal items like a yard sale. They have not ventured into any rides or activities specifically for young children.
The first two years they had a local band called The Ponytails Band doing oldies which is fronted by three women singers dressed in 60's attire to recreate the 60's look. But the organizers have not hired them since, probably to cut expenses and since the car show organizers provide music too.
I understand some new people are involved in the planning, so maybe new blood might bring new ideas to expand the offerings. The event was on the north side of town previously which had less room and parking restrictions. Now being located in the vacant supermarkert parking lot on the south end of town, there is more room so I am curious as to what will be there and how it will be arranged. The new location should be better for traffic control and exposure. being across the street from Dunkin' Donuts and the Stop & Shop as well as a small shopping strip might help a little too.
