I just lost all of my head lights. They were working fine than stopped. I have no lights except for the parking lights. When i pull back on the high beams they work but not when I push forward.. Could it be the switch on the steering column or the headlight switch?

Check fuses to make sure non have triped. The Head Light switch it's self might have gone bad. I have had that happen once. They do go bad from years or on and offs. Going to say proablly head light switch is bad. Take it out and play with it. You will need a thin flat head screw drive to pry it. Has 1 or 2 tabs on each side. Pull switch out and get a 12 volt test and check to see if you have power to it. Also when you throw the switch on one of the other wires should get power to turn the head lights on.

I went to auto zone and replaced the head light switch and it is still bad. I played with the turn signal indicator/ brights lever and got them to come on by pushing it forward as if to get brights and clicking backwards the lows come on. When i push it forward for brights, the lights go out. If I pull back and hold I get brights , but when I release it the lights go out and I have to flick it forward and back again to get them back on. I am thinking it is that lever/ switch. 150 from auto zone

You have a GT? Have you been using the foglights? If so you burned the harness plug on the lower part of the steering column. Very common on those cars. The foglights run off of the headlight circuit and the wiring is too thin to handle the load.

if you need a turn signal brights switch i have one/used of course but i have one still works good last i checked. sounds like thats your problem.

just realized your also the person who posted a thread about fog light help as well i would go w/ what was suggested about the wiring being possibly burned. as posted by toomanytoys. sounds like that is actually your problem. and again a chilton manual electrical diagram comes in really handy w/ problems like this.

I think it is that switch the headlights are now back on I played with the turn signal switch and they came back on. I bought the new switch. does anyone know how to remove the old one?

removed the three steering column cover screws w/ a long phillips screw driver. you may also have to remove the lower cover held by two screws behind the lower steering column cover. this will give you access to the switch and connectors, next using a pick or the tip of a flat head screw driver pry off the electrical connector(s). then at the top and bottom of the switch you will find two screws holding it to the side of the steering column. removed the screws to dismount the switch, install is reverse order. then your done. i was looking at the wiring diagram and i believe this to be your problem as well. seeing as how both low and high beams and fogs and signals all run to this switch.let me know how it works out and write back if you have any difficulty w/ the install. you shouldnt. it is very simple.
