Gears?

What are the stock gears for a gt rearend? My v6 has a gt rearend and woundering what is the stock gears. I believe this might be the culprit for why i have no acceleration on take off.

3.73 are great, I have an auto and was told that 4.10's would help big time with take off but you may sacrifice top end and drivability. I went 3.73 and it feels like a different car I have nothing but good things to say.

3.27 for auto 3.55 for manual i believe.

my stock 04 gt had the 3.26, err 3.27s and its a manual.

on a side note, i would say for the v6 use the 3.73, or even a 3.55 would be good. but anything more than that and your just going to waste gas

My '96gt has 3.27's.

I know the Speed Cal from AM only shows conversions for ... 2.73's, 3.08's, and 3.27's.

I'm not sure what year 3.55's started showing up.

A real easy way to figure out your gears if the tag isn't there is ....

Jack up the rear tires, mark the bottom of tire, turn drive shaft (counting rotations) until tire makes 1 full turn.

With 3.27's the ds will turn 3 1/4 turns for 1 turn of the tire.

No, all new edge stangs, V6/GTs had 3.27s regardless of tranny type.

Weird the reason i asked is my mechanic friend who fixed the car said it had 3.55 i think. So i was curious if that was stock gears. Either way i am going 3.73's for it. I need some take off.

Your guess is as good as mine. Came with the car. I didn't even know it was a 8.8 till i got the rearend fixed.

Dude....no PRE 05 Mustang V6 or GT came with 3.55's for manuals...they all came with 3.27s, regardless of tranny.

So very true. But if you're like me and say, "lets go for a ride". Then 9 hrs and 350 miles later you're pulling back in the driveway with hundreds of pics of the Adirondack and Green Mountains, 3.73's rule. Drive-ability and power.



Shit, Hampton Beach NH is closer to me then NYC.


WTF am I talkin' about ... my 3.73's and hi-flo cats still sit on the shelf awaiting install. :nono:
