For the first half of the year Ford Mustang sales slowly rose every month from a low of 3,608 in January to 9,243 in June. That trend changed this past month as Ford Mustang sales plummeted down to 5,768 in the month of July, a 21.7 percent decrease compared to the 7,371 units sold in July of 2012 and a 37.5 percent decrease compared to last month. Overall Ford Mustang sales this year are at 48,879, down 12.7 percent from this same time last year. Don’t expect them to improve anytime soon, either, as Ford will likely start to scale back supply in anticipation of the new 2015 Mustang.
On the brighter side, overall Ford sales are up 11 percent compared to a year ago, and the Blue Oval had its best July sales since 2006. Ford’s small car lineup including the Fiesta, Focus and C-Max posted a 32 percent gain, and the Edge, Explorer and Escape all showed increased sales as well. The F-Series also had its best July since 2006.
