News about the Ford Mustang Boss 302S usually comes from the SCCA World Challenge series, but the turn-key race car is qualified to compete in plenty of other events as well. One of those is the at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, an endurance race in Northern California that’s known for taking its toll on cars, drivers and teams. The folks over at Winding Road Racing entered their 2013 Boss 302S in the E0 division, and we’re happy to say they took home the class win with owner Tom Martin Jr., Tom Martin III, Tom Brown and Brian Zander behind the wheel.
“We started the race pretty well, though we dropped back in the overall standing a few places,” said Martin Jr. “Our goal was to focus initially on incident-free driving. Then we aimed at a target pace that we knew would put us toward the front if we could avoid mechanical issues.”
The team did just that, running a near incident-free race while maintaining a fast pace. The only issue they ran into during the 25 hour race was a broken wheel stud, a testament to the durability of the Boss 302S that is usually run in sprint-style races.
