Dumb Tuner. ??

They say it can be locked/unlocked 5 times but I believe you should, for your engines safeties sake, get a new tune specifically off the ECM # for the vehicle. So just because your buddy has the same year mustang it may not totally be safe to load a tune written for his car into your. I'm sure there is a simple way to cross reference ECM #'s or something like that to know if it's safe to do.
A handheld tuner, in my case a SCT SF3, get's locked/married to a car's VIN. When you connect an unlocked handheld to your car the 1st thing it wants you to do is download the stock file/tune to it. This locks the handheld to that car.
Now the actual tuner/person that writes the custom tune for your car can download to the handheld and then upload it from the handheld to the car.
To unlock the handheld from the car it's married to so you can use it on a different car the 1st car HAS TO BE RETURNED TO STOCK.
Someone would have to return their car to stock tune for you to use it. Then you would have to return your car to stock tune to give it back. There's nothing accomplished and you used 2 of the 5 unlocks on the handheld.
In short, you pretty much need your own handheld.

okay another question may or may not know the diablo tuner that syncs with an iPhone/iPad or the bama tuner see both on amm love the idea of the iPhone but reviews aren't that great,
I have been hearing some good things about the Diablosport InTune to be honest. Either way you really can't go wrong. All a tuner is, is just a device to hold the tunes and transfer them to your car. Probably the best one that I have heard of that has the most features was the Livewire, it shows a lot of things and is fairly easy to learn and work with.
I have found most tuners who write custom tunes via info gathered during a dyno session use SCT software. If you plan on getting a custom tune from a dyno check with that tuner to see what software he uses. Supercharger, NOS or meth injection are a few examples of when you would need a custom tune via dyno results. These tunes should not be mail ordered through websites. Even the tunes Rousch or Edelbrock writes for their superchargers is not accurate. Sometimes those tunes run too lean or rich.
Okay guys the tuner came in finally after a 2 week wait loaded the pretune for 89 octane was awesome! Loaded the the pretune I sent out for and after the car revs at 1400 rpm's, only after being in gear sittin still punch the gas it drops down to 6-800 but take off from 1st or stopping at light I haven't loaded the stock back in yet wanted opinions from you guys to see what you all had thought thanks
