Every year, CJ Pony Parts hosts a Customer Appreciation Day (CAD) at its Harrisburg, PA., campus. This isn’t your typical light-refreshments-and-small-talk appreciation day, though. It’s a full-on car show, complete with free food, goodie bags, prizes and donations to charity. Cars, food and helping the community – what could be better? I’ll tell you: it’s a short walk from my house so I can stroll down the road to see hundreds of sweet cars.
This year’s show was by far my favorite, especially for a lover of all things Ford. There were Mustangs, Focus STs, Fiesta STs, F-150s and Broncos as far as the eye could see. I constantly had to keep my jaw from hitting the ground. In other words, it was spectacular. Join me as I take you through a play-by-play of the day’s events.
Early Bird Gets the Worm
The show officially started at 9 a.m., but get this – cars were lined up at the gates at 6:30! I actually woke up at 7am not because of my alarm but because of the sound of a Mustang.
The car show was run by a popular vote. All contestants received a goodie bag that included a free t-shirt, so no one went home without a prize.
Giving and Giving Back
One of the best parts of the CAD is the free food. Coffee, orange juice and donuts were provided in the morning, and the afternoon featured free hot dogs and Rita’s Italian Ice, which is worth the trip on its own.
CJ Pony Parts definitely wants people to know how grateful it is for supporting their business. That’s why it offered great deals on a variety of parts. All proceeds from the parts were donated to the Central Dauphin High School chapter of the Four Diamonds Fund. In fact, they’ve donated more than $150,000 in the past to the Four Diamonds Fund, and this year they added another check for a stunning $20,000.
The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For …
All of this stuff is great, but what about the cars? I snapped some photos that captured all the action of the day.
The events started early, with Mustangs new and old rolling in by the hundreds. Here we get a glimpse of nearly all the incarnations of the Mustang, from the ‘60s to the present. What a stellar lineup!
The scope of this show was enormous, and although the Mustangs dominated the lot, there were a few other Fords mixed in there, too.
Here’s another overhead shot to give you a sense of how big this show really was. This is just part of it!
Everyone appreciates an awesome car show, whether it’s fathers and sons, girls and boys, or gearheads.
This show was a must-see for anyone who’s a fan of Mustangs, and let me tell you – I was in heaven.
CJ’s 2015 CAD definitely did not leave me hanging. With more than 500 Ford models on the lot, there was so much to see and appreciate. I can’t wait to go back next year.
